What is non-emergency Urgent Care in the mental health context?

After years of practicing psychotherapy it has become evident that something between Emergency Care and Scheduled Care is needed. I now allocate 2 slots per day and the time following my last client of the day for such matters. Common issues that might require a same day appointment: one suddenly is dealing with grief, has found out that a partner is cheating, a teenage child is smoking, a fight in the home that is not dangerous but not resolving, etc. Sometimes people just need an ear or some immediate guidance and cannot wait until the appointment date. This service is offered to meet that need. If you have further questions please reach out.

This service is NOT for individuals who are experiencing homicidal or suicidal ideation, intent, or plan. PLEASE contact 911 or go to your nearest emergency department if you are experiencing suicidal or homicidal ideation. Hospitals are informed and well staffed to deal with such matters. Do not be embarrassed just GO NOW!
